Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is being an all girls team special?

A: Being an all girls team is very special because it encourages young women to excel in a traditionally male-dominated field. There is no competition between the genders on our team, and it gives females a voice.

Q: How many members are on your team?

A: There are approximately 40 girls in grades 9-12 participating, and this is only our first year. We are excited to expand the program and attract many more participants in the future.

Q: How is Robotics different from other extracurricular activities?

A: Robotics implements teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work, just like any other sport, but it also prepares students for career opportunities and problem solving in the future.

Q: What are the different aspects of the Lancers Robotics Team?

A: The team is composed of many sub-teams, such as the Build Team, Public Relations, Strategy Team, and many more. We are a network of students working together to create the whole package.

Q: Who is helping to support this project?

A: The mentors & sponsors, not to mention SHA’s administrators and the Sisters.

Q: How much time and effort does this project take?

A: The build season is only 6 weeks long, and that period is very time-intensive. Over the year, though, the team will meet for countless hours, long work periods, and packed weekends to complete the different tasks at hand. It is all worth it!
