MAY – JUNE
• Meet with Mr. Fong to register for classes and pre-college
planning; take challenging courses.
• Take the SAT and ACT tests. You must register on your own.
Instructions and registration forms were passed out in March.
• Pursue interests through work experiences, community service
and volunteering.
• Research schools through college guides or internet web pages.
The Counseling Center also has a number of college reference guides
and college videos.
• Request more information and applications by writing inquiry
letters or sending email to college admissions offices.
• Individual parent-student-counselor meetings with Mr. Fong
to finalize college plans.
AUGUST
• SAT Prep Class starts
• Refine your list of potential colleges to apply
SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER
• College Night for Seniors (September TBA, Thursday, 6:00 p.m.)
• SAT I and II (Subject Tests) – October 8
• ACT – October 22
• Follow up meetings with Mr. Fong regarding college plans
NOVEMBER
• Attend weekly scheduled meetings with college and university
admissions representatives at school. Sign up with Mr. Fong--open
to parents as well.
• Ask for Letters of Recommendation from teachers (2 weeks notice).
Write thank-you notes to those that write you recommendations.
• FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) passed out
to all seniors.
• College and Career Fair at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall - November
TBA
• Financial Aid Night--November TBA, 6:30 p.m. Auditorium (open
to seniors/juniors and parents).
• SAT--November 5 (registration deadline 9/30); No ACT this
month
DECEMBER
• NCAA Workshop for student-athletes.
• Early decision/early action deadline for most colleges (usually
November 1 - 15).
• SAT--December 3
• ACT--December 10
• Alumnae Forum (3rd week of December)
• Submit all applications for admission by the deadlines!
JANUARY 2006
• Your family can submit the completed FAFSA (Free Application
for Financial Aid) beginning January 1st. FAFSA will be distributed
to ALL seniors. Double check if your college also requires the CSS
Profile.
• SAT--January 28
• Work on scholarship applications, including Kamehameha Schools
Financial Aid for Native Hawaiians and the Hawaii Comunity Foundation
Scholarships.
• Parents, do your taxes early this year! You will need to provide
estimated information on your income in January for the FAFSA, and
then make corrections after you have filed. Delaying doing your taxes
may delay in your daughter’s financial aid notification.
FEBRUARY
• For those who needed to raise their GPAs with 1st semester
grades, submit your transcripts to colleges now. Last chance to impress.
• 1st Semester grades sent to colleges.
• ACT--February 11
