- Pastoral Counseling
Opportunites for personal and spiritual guidance are offered to
foster growth in prayer, faith, and sacramental life. In providing
counseling services, Campus ministry confers with the Counseling
department to see the type of counseling that best meets the needs
of the individual.
- Prayer and Celebration
Important dimensions of a faith community, prayer and celebration
mark significant events in the life of the school, the Church,
and society.
On the junior and senior high school levels, the Na Leo Ho’onani
Liturgical Corps plays an important role in animating worship
services. Ministries involve music, dance, reading, hospitality,
environment and Eucharist.
In the lower school, teachers together with their classes to prepare
and facilitate the various liturgical feasts.
- Retreats
- Division Reflection Days are when seniors and juniors have
an overnight experience led by student teams. Freshmen and
sophomores have a day of reflection off campus on a regular
school day.
The Junior High has an overnight experience with one of the
camps on Oahu.
- Living in Faith Experience (L.I.F.E.) is a summer program
sponsored by the Marianist community. A team of incoming seniors
and two moderators experience living as a Christian community
with representative from other Marianist affiliated schools
from Hawaii and California. They develop skills as Christian
leaders and commit themselves to foster the school’s
faith community. Members of the team staff school retreats
and facilitate Lancer Christian Communities.
- Parish sponsored retreats. Encourage students and teachers
to participate in some excellent weekend retreats sponsored
by parishes, vicariates, or the diocese, for example, the
Missionary Basic Community retreat, Agape, etc
- Faculty Retreats, held annually, give faculty its opportunity
to spends a day of reflection, prayer, discussion and celebration
off campus. This day is planned by a faculty team in collaboration
with Campus Ministry and the administration.
- Teaching as Ministry Workshop (TAM) is a four-day retreat/workshop
sponsored by the Marianists. Six teachers from the Academy
have participated each year since 1985. This retreat helps
teachers see teaching as a ministry flowing out of the Sacred
Hearts Spirituality of the school.
- Outreach and Leadership programs are implemented by several
student groups: the Outreach, Unity and Renewal (OUR) Club, Amnesty
International, and the Fast for a Better Tomorrow. Students plan
and carry out school-wide service projects for the homeless, transitional
shelters, parish outreach, human rights and global poverty.
